At Affluences we are deeply committed to making the digital world accessible to everyone, including people with visual impairments. This commitment is not limited to compliance with standards, but extends to creating an enriching and inclusive user experience for every user.
Why is digital inclusion essential?
The importance of accessibility for all
Digital accessibility means giving everyone access to online services, information and tools without discrimination. People with disabilities, particularly those with visual impairments, often face barriers that exclude them from full participation in digital life. As a company, we have a responsibility to help remove these barriers.
The role of businesses in reducing digital inequalities
By building accessibility into the design of our products and services, we can ensure that our users have an equitable experience. At Affluences, we believe that digital inclusion should be at the heart of our innovation strategy, which is why we decided from the outset to work with the teams in charge of welcoming disabled users at the Bibliothèque nationale de France during our incubation period.
The specific challenges faced by people with vision impairments in the digital world
People with vision impairments face many challenges when browsing the web or using mobile applications. These include images without alternative descriptions, complex interfaces and content that is not compatible with screen readers. These barriers limit access to information and services, and can lead to a loss of independence.
Affluences' digital inclusion initiatives
Improving the accessibility of websites and applications
At Affluences, we have taken concrete steps to make our public applications accessible to the visually impaired. In 2023, we achieved a score of 98/100 based on the RGAA 4 standard. We also carry out user tests with visually impaired people to identify and correct accessibility problems in advance.
Development of adapted tools and technologies
We invest in the development of tools and technologies specifically adapted to the needs of people with disabilities who need to visit the venues listed by Affluences. For example, we have developed mapping with a specific itinerary for our booking system: when users choose a resource to book, they can see which itinerary is accessible to PRMs (people with reduced mobility).
This also includes adapting our user interfaces to keep them simple, ergonomic and high-contrast. We also offer all users the option of choosing the dark mode so that they can accentuate the contrast when reading if necessary.
Awareness-raising and training
Digital inclusion starts with awareness. We train our teams in the importance of digital accessibility and the best practices to adopt when developing our products through regular workshops organised as part of our CSR policy.
We invite you to join this movement for a more inclusive society, where everyone has the opportunity to participate fully in digital life. Together, we can build a digital future accessible to all!
